چکیده

RESULTS. Several large histamine-immunoreactive axons ran from the optic nerve head to the peripheral retina, where they branched extensively and terminated in the inner plexiform layer, occasionally alongside retinal blood vessels. Other axons that emerged from the optic nerve head ran in the optic fiber layer to the central retina, circled the fovea, and then returned to the optic disc. These may be the source of histamine-immunoreactive axons that have been observed in central visual areas. No labeled cell bodies were present in the retina. Because perikarya in die posterior hypothalamus are the only known source of histamine in the primate central nervous system and because neurons there can be retrogradely labeled from the cut optic nerve, the histamine-immunoreactive axons must have originated there.

Organotypic culture of central histamine neurons.

Organotypic cultures of histaminergic tuberomammillary (TM) neurons were grown using explants obtained from newborn rats. The cultures were examined after immunohistochemical localization of the histamine synthetic enzyme, L-histidine decarboxylase (HDC). The morphological properties of the somata, dendrites and axons of HDC-immunoreactive TM neurons in organotypic culture were virtually indist...

Regional and mucosal distributions of some intestinal immunoreactive endocrine cells in New Zealand white rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus L.)

The aim of this study was to detect the regional and mucosal distribution of endocrine cells that secrete gulcagon, somatostatin, Chyholecystokinin-8 (CCK-8), serotonin, secretin, substance P (SP) and histamine in the small and large intestine of New Zealand white rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus L.) using immunohistochemical peroxidase-antiperoxidase (PAP) method. It was found that most of the im...

Histamine H3 receptors inhibit serotonin release in substantia nigra pars reticulata.

The substantia nigra pars reticulata (SNr) plays a key role in basal ganglia function. Projections from multiple basal ganglia nuclei converge at the SNr to regulate nigrothalamic output. The SNr is also characterized by abundant aminergic input, including dopaminergic dendrites and axons containing 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) or histamine (HA). The functions of HA in the SNr include motor contr...

Different roles of capsaicin-sensitive and H1 histamine receptor-expressing sensory neurones in itch of mosquito allergy in mice.

Although mosquito allergy induces the release of histamine, the itch-related response, scratching, is not effectively suppressed by blockade of H1 histamine receptors. To address this question, we examined the effects of neonatal capsaicin treatment on allergic reactions and H1 histamine receptor-expressing sensory neurones in mice. Neonatal capsaicin treatment almost completely abolished aller...

Histamine containing endocrine cells in the human stomach.

Histamine and chromogranin A-immunoreactive cells were studied in the mucosa of the human stomach. Cells reacting to both histamine and chromogranin A-antibodies (histamine containing endocrine cells), were demonstrated by double immunostaining and found to be restricted to the oxyntic mucosa. Histamine containing cells that did not stain with chromogranin A-antibodies were numerous throughout ...
